If you were surprised last week to discover the end of Flash meant your dashboard designer also stopped working (see image above), you’re not alone. Believe me!

When Adobe finally turned off Flash on the 12^th of January, most SAP Dashboards / Xcelsius customers knew that any dashboards exported as Flash files would stop working. However, the fact the dashboard designer itself was built around Flash, meant it too would stop working. This was not so widely known.

The dashboard designer error has left customers in a difficult situation. Any dashboards previously exported to HTML continue to work as before. But due to the fact that the SAP Dashboard designer stopped working, it’s no longer possible to update or maintain these dashboards, let alone create new ones.

The good news is, that whilst Flash and the dashboard designer may be dead, your work — in the form of your “xlfs” (the files created by the designer) — is not.
